The best work starts as play.

Amberline Design sprouted from the the mind and talents of me, Amber Elbon, after ten years of doing graphic and web design as a hobby. I first began teaching myself HTML and CSS when I was in seventh grade, staying up all night creating code and pushing pixels, determined to make my web site just right. I viewed each project as an opportunity to teach myself something new, an attitude I still have today.

About Amber

Amber ElbonI grew up in the Puget Sound region of Washington state and am happy to call it home. Throughout school I pursued anything involving writing, visual arts and business, and graduated high school with medals in each of these subjects. My interests continued to grow throughout my studies at the University of Puget Sound, translating into an English major, a business minor, and this, Amberline Design. In 2009, I wed my graphic designer husband, Matt Elbon and moved to the nerd-friendly city of Seattle.

In my spare time, when I'm not reading a book (fiction, technical or design-related), I'm probably either baking or doing the lindy hop. On the weekends, Matt and I enjoy whipping together something tasty in the kitchen, being overly competitive at board games, and exploring the Emerald City.

If design is one passion of mine, dogs are another. I was showing my family's cocker spaniel in 4-H when I learned about Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I immediately knew the Cavalier was the breed for me. Ever since, I have owned, loved, trained, and shown Cavaliers. My thoughts about showing a Cavalier in Junior Showmanship are published in Barbara Garnett-Wilson's book "The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in Fact and Fancy."

Alfie

AKC Ch. Rosscrea Citizen Kane, CD, RN, CGC

I remember Heidi Mohn of Covington Cavaliers pulling Alfie out of the yard and placing him in front of me in the summer of 2001. He was two years old, just off the show circuit, and absolutely stunning. Little did I know how absolutely special this dog is. Alfie went on to get his obedience title and learn agility before I retired him while I went to college. After I graduated we stepped back into the show ring and earned his Rally Novice title with three qualifying scores in just three shows.

Alfie is a wise, sensitive soul. He will sit before a baby and wait to be petted, and he'll gently lick my 102-year-old great-grandmother's cheek. He happily "talks" as he goes on walks, and he pauses to poke his nose in gardens or bouquets of flowers. There is something about him that is almost human.

Butter

CKCSC-USA & AKC Ch. Covington Fancy Pants

I fell in love with Butter when I showed her for Heidi Mohn during the summer of 2006. She is one of the goofiest dogs I have ever met. Curious and intelligent, finding her way into mischief undetected is her favorite sport. But as long as you include her in the action, she'll be perfectly pleasant company. She often accompanies me to the office, lying quietly between my feet on the bus and then snoring gently at my desk during the day.
